Mary Curtis Summers

Mary Curtis Summers passed from this life on September 3, 2021, at Iris Memory Care in Edmond, Oklahoma. Mary was born to Harrie Lee and Cortright English on October 8, 1929. She grew up in Ada, Oklahoma and graduated from Ada High School. In January 1950 she married Thomas Ernest Summers. Not content to stay in a small town, they moved to Oklahoma City where they made a home, raised a family and spent the rest of their lives. A skilled seamstress, Mary made most of her daughters' clothes as they were growing up. After they left home, she found a new outlet in art. To her surprise she had real talent and she spent many fulfilling years crafting beautiful paintings. Mary enjoyed surrounding herself with beauty. She was a connoisseur of clothing, jewelry, art and antiques. She also became a fan of Afghan hounds and owned many of them over the years. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister Carolyn Watson. She is survived by three daughters: Beverly Hancock, Nancy Davidson, Suzanne DuCom; seven grandchildren: Alan Bryan, Ashley Hancock, Nathan Buchanan, Catie Finney, Cliff Moser, Michelle DuCom, Nicholette DuCom; and three great grandchildren: Cash Bryan, Hannah Buchanan and Redmund Finney. A Celebration of Life will be held at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home on N. May Ave. at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 13, followed by burial services at 3:00 pm in Ada, Oklahoma.
