Mary Louise O’Hern, 74, was born June 29th, 1951, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Edward and Marion (Laughlin) Parrott. She passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, June 3rd, 2026, in Oklahoma City. Mary was a dedicated professional, loving wife, cherished daughter & sister, and devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was a devout Catholic and spent her free time volunteering for Hospice, Whiz Kids, and countless others. Her selfless nature, kindness, and willingness to help those in need had a memorable impact on so many people.
Mary devoted over 30 years to her career as an executive sales manager at AT&T (formerly Southwestern Bell), which took her from Kansas City to St. Louis, Missouri, then to Little Rock, Arkansas, and finally to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was in Oklahoma City where she met the love of her life, John. They were married for 42 years and shared a beautiful life with one another. Together they ran a small cattle ranch in Guthrie, OK. After retirement, they moved to Oklahoma City to be closer to family, where they were instrumental in helping to raise their great-nieces, Kayleen and Keyaira O’Hern.
Mary adopted Oklahoma in her heart but made sure to nurture her lifelong friendships, joining in their cherished annual girls’ weekend—a time to share life’s stories, games, and laughing until their faces hurt.
Mary’s warmth and kindness made a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, John; her sister, Dianne & husband David Ewoldt; her brothers, Stephen Parrott and Tom Parrott & wife Liz; brothers-in-law Thomas O’Hern & wife Audra, Jim O’Hern & wife Donna, and Mike Collins; sisters-in-law Peggy Mize & husband Richie, Patricia Martinez & husband David, Susie O’Hern & husband Roger Turnipseed; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Ed & Marion, her father & mothers-in-law Jack, Frances and Ruby O’Hern, sister-in-law Mary Katherine Collins, and brother-in-law Michael O’Hern.
The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am at the Resurrection Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 7801 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Catholic Charities.
