Maxie Rogers Hawk

Thank you for showing all of us how to Love and Live life to the fullest!-Sincerely, Cindy Hawk Curley "Precious", Luke Curley, Lauren (Matt) Curley Edwards, Jacqueline Curley (Aaron) and Colin Curley (Carly), John and Julia Kirkpatrick, Karri (Chip), Amanda (Travis), Barbara Hawk, Danny Hawk, Richard Hawk and Debra Hawk. After 20 years of all things boys, brothers, Hubert, Theo, and Lloyd Rogers, then came all things Girlie when "Sassy Maxie" was born during the "Depression" to John and Amanda Rogers. The Rogers established a stable farming community which was the hub of the town, Trousdale, employing numerous work-hands and keeping the town fed and prosperous! After lettering in an all-state basketball team and graduating from Trousdale in 1950, Maxie moved to "The City" where she was employed at a credit union close to Tinker Field when a tall, dark and handsome gentleman appeared in uniform to obtain a loan for his new "Hoopie"! It was love at first sight.Bill and Maxie were married in 1955, moved to Dallas, had Cynthia in 1957, and a glamorous executive secretarial career for the British American Oil Company and of course, a Neiman Marcus was nearby. Speaking of: Is there a Designer shoe department in Heaven? Always a perfectionist, hair, makeup, outfits, Maxie was also the ORIGINAL Martha Stewart when it came to entertaining. From formal 5 course dinners to ice cream socials, it didn't matter, it was always an extravaganza to the "Hilt'! Entertaining family, neighbors, Wedding Ring Sunday school class, insurance executives, and friends were her priority! Or we would have standing Sunday family reunions, play piano, guitar, violin, drums, etc.. (not sure about the singing!)Maxie could master any remodel big or small, she loved decorating and flipping, and was very much in demand when it came to friends wanting ONLY her to decorate their house! Her only child, "Precious", was the apple of her eye! And rearing well rounded, yet not too spoiled daughter, all things revolved around Cindy's world, ballet, tap, track, flute, water and snow skiing, Putnam City Pirates to Chi Omega at OU. Cindy and Luke's wedding in 1983, was her debut of throwing lavish events! The feather in her cap was chairing "Ladies in the News" a fundraiser for Oklahoma Hospitality. The extravagant event was broadcasted in all of social society. Mom and dad's love story grew as they enjoyed traveling to Barcelona, Europe, Hawaii, Yellowstone, and of course her favorite trip to Israel where she went to the Wailing Wall and brought back Holy water! Then the ever faithful "once a year" vacation to Alabama where her favorite in-laws lived! They were very, very close! Maxie's executive professional secretary career at B.A. Oil led to General Electric receptionist in Oklahoma City, to a very meaningful but low paying position as secretary to Coronado Elementary School. These friendships were forever forged at Coronado and eventually Putnam City High School. My parents were proud of their 50 years of membership at St. Luke's, and their wedding ring class gave bibles to youth confirmation. Maxie was a member of the Republican Leadership Senatorial Inner Circle, PEO, Oklahoma Hospitality, Chi Omega Sorority Mother's Club, and was the winner of the Spelling Bee Contest at Memory Care. But, her most treasured prize was receiving "The Best Mimi" award for her awesomeness! Which included her moving across the street from her treasures...the grandkids.Thank you for shaping and blessing all those lives you have touched!
