Michael Patrick Brogan passed away surrounded by his family August 16, 2025. He was born to Patrick and Esther Brogan on June 15, 1952 in Oklahoma City. After earning his bachelor's degree from Oklahoma City University in 1974, he went on to earn his J.D. law degree from Oklahoma City University in 1978. He started practicing law with his father in 1978, and continued practicing for 47 years, specializing in real estate law, probate, and trusts. He married Susan Kay Ray July 4, 1980 in Altus, OK. He adopted her two children, Christopher and Jennifer, and they had Sean in 1981. After their divorce in 2003, he found love again with Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Garino, and they married April 16, 2004 in El Reno, OK. Michael will be missed by all who knew & loved him.
Michael is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Brogan, children Christopher Brogan and his wife Stephanie of Kansas City, MO along with their son, Benjamin; Jennifer Smith and her husband Jonathan of Newcastle, OK along with their children Hunter, Braiden, Taylor, & Grayson, and two great-grandchildren, Casey and Ella; and Sean Brogan and his wife Regina of Blanchard, OK and their children Layla and Cordell; step-daughters Margaret Garino of Mustang and her son, Landon; and Stephanie Payne and her husband Colby of Yukon, OK along with their children Garrett, Kensley, and Brooklyn; brother Tim Brogan and wife Carol; and many other beloved family & friends.
Visitation will be 10am – 7pm Thursday, August 21, 2025at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home (1401 NW 23rd Street, OKC, OK 73106). The Holy Rosary will be prayed on Friday August 22, 2025 at 10:15 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11am Friday both at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, (600 S. Garth Brooks Blvd, Yukon, OK 73099). Burial to follow at 1:30 PM at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
