Michael Duane Bunce, a Citizen of the Cherokee Nation was born in Nashville Tennessee on November 4th 1949, lived in Oklahoma City at the time of his passing on July 10th, 2026. He lived a full 76 years.
Preceded in death by his mother LaHoma Jerimiah, his father Duane Maxwell “Bud”, and his sister Susan Lee. Mike is survived by his Wife Kathrine Draper Bunce, his daughters Micah Loren Partin and Shana Lee Bartling, his grandson Dylan Draper Sims, and Brother – in – law Garen David Draper. As well as an extensive family in Wisconsin.
After serving in the Navy, Mike turned to the world of Drafting and Engineering. He met Kathe in the drafting room as a Senior Engineer at Amerman, Butler & Thomas in 1978, they wed in May of 1980.
Through trials and tribulations, he built a life he was so proud of and many would envy. Climbing up the ladder professionally and personally, he was able to find the love of his life, raise 2 daughters, retire from a Civil Engineer Design career after more than 32 years, travel the states and enjoy many trips to Mexico. Day trips and going out to eat with Kathe was one of the simple things he enjoyed the most.
Having an extensive tool collection and the know-how to fix almost anything, he was more than generous with his knowledge and LOANING out tools. May our hearts and minds be as open and generous as the garage on 111th street.
A memorial service to celebrate Michael's life will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2026 at Village United Methodist Church.
