Michael “Mike” John Mahoney, born on March 12, 1967, in San Deigo, CA, went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife, Tamra; his sons, Cole and Blake; and his daughter, Isabella. Mike recently became a grandfather, affectionately known as “Popsy”, to Amelia and he was absolutely thrilled to step into that role. He also leaves behind a large community of friends, who became family, from all across the country.
Mike grew up in Kansas and attended Thomas More-Prep Marian High School in Hays. While in high school, he was an outstanding athlete, earning varsity letters in three sports: football, basketball, and track. After graduating, he accepted a scholarship to play football at Fort Hays State University where he would complete his bachelor’s degree in 1992. Mike moved to Oklahoma City in 1993 to pursue an internship before moving back to Kansas. Needless to say, that move never happened because he met, fell in love, and married Tamra on March 3, 1997, in Lake Tahoe, CA.
Mike had a long and distinguished career in the field of nutraceuticals where he served as Senior Vice President of Sales. Mike brought passion, integrity, and leadership to his work, earning the respect of colleagues throughout the industry. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, watching sports, and being the master chef on the family’s back patio grill.
Although Mike was a bit of a workaholic, he was always a devoted family man that prioritized his family and faith above everything else in life. Mike never missed a sporting event or activity his children participated in – he was always their biggest cheerleader and supporter. His family was his pride and joy, and his presence will be deeply missed.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18.
