Michael Timothy O'Connor

On February 21, 2024, Michael (Mike) Timothy O’Connor passed away at age 46 in Oklahoma City after a long illness. Michael was born on December 28, 1977, in Cheyenne, Wyoming.   Growing up in Oklahoma City, Michael attended Bishop John Carroll grade school and Mount St. Mary High School (class of 1996), and he was a parishioner and altar server at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.  At Mount St. Mary, he was a gifted student athlete, setting numerous distance records in track and field that led him to Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas on a track scholarship.

Michael lived his adult life in Oklahoma City, where his most cherished calling was being a proud, devoted, and loving father to his precious daughter Keely. He was a generous and loving son, brother, nephew, cousin, brother-in-law, and uncle within the family, and a loyal and treasured friend to many. He was especially proud of his Irish ancestors and to be part of the immediate and extended family.

During his career, Michael excelled in various customer service and management roles for Toys R Us, St. Ann’s Nursing Home, and Oklahoma Fidelity Bank.  Michael was sharp witted, hardworking, and eager to please those whom he served. He loved to serve and connect with customers and the public.  He was beloved by his colleagues and clients alike and provided them with a high level of care and good-natured ribbings.

In his leisure time, Michael loved seeing live music and collecting records from his favorite artists and shows he attended.  A huge sports buff, he avidly followed the Sooners, Thunder, Red Sox, Avalanche and Broncos.

Michael is survived by his parents, Timothy and Margaret (Peggy) O’Connor of Oklahoma City; daughter Keely O’Connor of Oklahoma City; brother Danny (wife Bridgette and daughter Maggie) of Lafayette, Colorado; sister Molly of Oklahoma City, and brother Patrick (fiancé Jane Bigham) of Washington, DC; many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Colorado; and numerous friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mary O’Connor of Denver, and Jack and Helen Ward of Colorado Springs. He is dearly missed.

The family wishes to thank the numerous medical and support professionals who greatly helped and cared for Michael during his extended illness and peaceful death, especially the exceptional team with Integris Medical Center. The family is also ever grateful for all the support, visits, and prayers from dear friends of Michael and the family during his life and faithful passage into eternal life.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 9 at St. Patrick’s Church, 2121 N. Portland Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73107 with a reception to follow. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 7801 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73132 in a private ceremony.
