Oliver Yates Sweeney

Oliver “Ollie” Yates Sweeney, our sweet Bubba, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, at 12:18 p.m., surrounded by the love that carried him through his entire life.

Ollie was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sandra Sweeney; grandfather, Mike Sweeney; great-grandfather, James Alexander; and aunt, Terra Richmond.

Ollie was a miracle from the very beginning, our angel here on Earth. In his short but profoundly impactful life, he touched more hearts than most ever could. He was the happiest, handsomest, and most heroic boy, known for his radiant smile and a spirit that lit up every room he entered. Our sunshine.

Though many tried to write his story for him, Ollie was always the author of his own. He fought with unimaginable strength and courage through every challenge, always for the people he loved most, his family. His heart was pure gold, and his love ran deep and unwavering.

Ollie was a devoted son, a proud big brother, cousin, and a cherished grandson, nephew, and friend. He changed the meaning of life and love for his parents, leaving behind a legacy of strength, faith, and unconditional love that will live on forever.

He overcame more in his short life than many face in a lifetime, and he did it all with a smile. His laughter, his joy, and his resilience will echo in the hearts of those who knew him for generations to come.

While our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing his soul is whole. We imagine him now running freely in heaven, telling stories of his time here, wrapped in the arms of Jesus and the guardian angels who were waiting to welcome him home. Though he slipped from our arms, he was never alone.

To know Ollie was to love him. To love him was to be forever changed.

We stand together as a family, holding one another through the unimaginable.

We are eternally grateful for the gift of Ollie’s life. He made us the proudest and strongest family. Thank you, Jesus, for blessing us with him.

Oliver, you are forever our greatest gift. We are so proud of you.

We love you beyond measure and we always will.

Oliver is survived by his loving parents, Robert "Bobby" and Calie Sweeney, and his two brothers, Brooks and Sutton Sweeney.

This poem "Oliver so sweet and bright you make my day have light. You make my day full of love your spirit is beautiful like a dove. Your laugh brings me joy, you're such a nice boy. You're so kind most people desire, your heart is so nice it burns like fire" was written by Cleveland Elementary 5th graders. The school Oliver attended.
