Patricia (Pat) Joan Aaron, 78, passed into eternal glory on January 20, 2026 in Tulsa, OK. She was a strong, independent, faith-filled woman with a quick wit and a generous heart. With great intention, she lived a life of joy and service. Where Pat was, fun closely followed.
Pat was born on June 24, 1947 in Oklahoma City, the youngest of three siblings, to Mary Olive (Walch) Aaron and Henry G. Aaron, Sr. She attended Bishop John Carroll School, graduated from Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School, and earned her Bachelor’s degree in sociology from Mount St. Scholastica College (now Benedictine College), Atchison, KS, followed by a Master of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK. She also obtained a national certification as a Human Resources Professional.
A Girl Scout since her youth, Pat carried the core values of the Scouts—courage, confidence, and character—throughout her life, and she served Scouting in many capacities professionally and as a volunteer. She served as the Program Coordinator and Director at Camp Red Rock in Binger, OK; Program Advisor of District Five, Red Lands Council of Girl Scouts in Oklahoma; Program Director of Girl Scout National Center West (the national Girl Scout camp) in Ten Sleep, WY; and as Director of Camping Services for the Circle T Scout Council in Fort Worth, TX. Through her decades of leadership, Pat was instrumental in the development and implementation of programs and services throughout the Councils. She also provided thousands of volunteer hours, including serving as Board Chair of the Red Lands Council of Girls Scouts and as President of the Board of the Girl Scouts, Western Oklahoma, Inc.
From 1979 through 1987, Pat lived and worked in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, making lifelong friends and expanding her career as a human resource professional. While there, she served as vice president of human resources for building and contracting companies Minnis Enterprises, Inc. and NTS, Inc., and at hotel company Parkmount Hospitality Corporation –Rodeway Inns International.
In 1987, Pat returned home to be closer to family and help care for her parents. Upon her return, she joined Oklahoma Healthcare Corp. - Baptist Medical Center as Director of Personnel for the eleven corporations under the OHC umbrella, which had 3,500 employees.
Always ready for a new adventure, Pat’s entrepreneurial spirit eventually led her to venture out on her own and form Aaron & Assoc. Human Resources Management Consulting. Later, she took another leap of faith and purchased and operated the 42nd Street Candy Co. on Western Avenue, where she enjoyed the sweet rewards of sharing the “kid in a candy store” experience with children and adults alike for many years.
Her last career choice allowed her to draw from all her experiences to aid families in need throughout Oklahoma as the Assistant Executive Director of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. She was humbled by the strength and compassion of her colleagues and found her time there very rewarding. During her tenure, she was recognized for her extraordinary volunteer assistance in researching the records necessary for the writing of “In His Name: A Century of Service”, the organization’s centennial history.
Always at home at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, the Aaron family’s parish for many decades, Pat served on committees and volunteered in multiple roles, including as a sacristan, grand-friend to John Carroll students, and a guide for Cathedral tours.
Pat always brought a gleeful grin and the best “gag” gift to the party. She loved a good joke and welcomed all openly to her home as a gracious and generous host. Family holidays, trips to Lake Texoma, and trips to Europe were more lively with her there. She and her sister Mary Anne were the best aunts and great-aunts any of us could imagine. Her love for us was clear and her willingness to help us in all stages of our lives was supportive and heartfelt.
Pat loved to travel with family and friends; some of her favorite adventures were to New York, Hawaii, Italy (especially Rome and the Vatican), Ireland, Russia, and a transformative Holy Land pilgrimage to Israel that she took with Mary Anne. As extensive as her travels were, she experienced some of her greatest joys in nature, sitting around campfires singing songs with friends.
Affected by Alzheimer’s too early in life, she maintained her independence for years, living life to its fullest, participating in clinical trials, and pushing expected boundaries with resilience and faith.
Pre-deceased by her parents Henry and Mary, her uncle the Reverend John L. Walch, her sister Mary Anne, and brother Henry Jr., she is survived by her sister-in-law JoEllen Aaron; niece Laura Aaron Nelson and husband Todd of Tulsa, OK; nephew and godson Gregory and his wife Jeanette of Philadelphia, PA and their daughters Catherine and Therese; nephew Michael and wife Elizabeth of Maplewood, NJ and their sons Nicholas and Henry; cousins and a host of dear friends.
The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of Pat’s friends who prayed, visited, and supported her through her long journey. We are eternally grateful for those who helped care for her, including Cathy M., the team of health care partners in the Chateau at Montereau, and for St. Francis Hospice, especially Sue, who provided compassionate and attentive care.
Viewing will be Friday, January 30th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Smith & Kernke, 1401 NW 23rd Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 31st at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 3214 N. Lake Ave., Oklahoma City, followed by a reception in Connor Center.
