Patricia Rose (Thompson) Metoyer of Oklahoma City passed away late Saturday evening, the 20th of December, at the age of 85 surrounded by her loved ones. Pat was born on St. Patrick’s Day of 1940 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to William and Emmaline Thompson. After the family moved to Oklahoma City, Pat attended and graduated in 1958 from Catholic High, now known as Bishop McGuiness High School. Being a devout Catholic, she became a nun at Mount Alverno Convent in Maryville, MO. During her time as a nun, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Alverno College with a BS in Nursing. Following her time as a nun, she earned her master’s degree in nursing from the Univ of Colorado.
Shortly thereafter, Pat married Adolph Metoyer at Our Lady’s Cathedral in 1972, after which she relocated to Chicago, IL where her husband was a Sergeant with the Chicago Police Dept. Unfortunately, her husband passed away in 1977 leaving her with three young children including a two-month-old baby girl. Pat then moved back to Oklahoma City to be near her family. After several positions running home health agencies, Pat became the first hire in 1994 for the not-yet formed Good Shephard Hospice. As the first Director, she helped the company grow and expand to cover four states until her retirement in 2010. Pat always had a heart dedicated to service of her fellow man, and her time at Good Shephard Hospice was a fulfillment of that life-long work. She was always so grateful for the Greiner family and the work they did together. Pat cherished her family time, and she leaves a family that was loved and returned that love to her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Adolph Metoyer of Natchitoches, LA, her father and mother, and her four siblings Robert Thompson, Francis Swartz, Marilyn Turner, and Charles Thompson.
She is survived by her three children Eric Metoyer and his wife Keri, Becky Davis and her husband Paul, and Darlene Metoyer as well as her grandchildren Emmaline, Gabriella, Jonah, Lukas, Cody, Riley, Mikala and her husband Sam, Mariana, Sarah, Evan to include her three great-grandchildren Cameron, Lucy, and Liam.
Funeral services will be held at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church on Monday, the 29th of December at 10:30 am.
