Patricia Anne Sellars

Patricia (Patty) Anne Manley Sellars passed away February 18, 2026, at her daughter's home surrounded by all six of her children and several grandchildren. She was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Frank Ferguson and Mary Eloise (Bodine) Manley on April 21, 1934. She was the first daughter and second child in a family of six children. Patty’s mother passed away in 1949, leaving six children to mourn. Her husband, Frank, remarried, bringing Mary Mollman Siddens and her two daughters into the family.

Patty attended Bishop John Carroll School from 1st to 10th grade, then attended Catholic High School for her junior and senior years. Patty was in the second graduating class of the new Catholic High, now Bishop McGuinness High School. She received her nurses’ training at St. Anthony’s Nursing School, where she earned her Registered Nurse certification. She proudly maintained her RN license throughout her life. Patty worked at various OKC metro hospitals, for several local doctors in their private practices, and served as the nurse at summer camps where her children attended. In retirement, she served as the camp nurse for Brush Ranch Camp in New Mexico, paving the way for several of her grandchildren to attend.

On September 17, 1955, Patty married the love of her life, John Henry Sellars, at Our Lady’s Cathedral. The couple moved to Stillwater where John attended Oklahoma A&M while completing his Electrical Engineering degree utilizing the G.I. Bill. During their time in Stillwater, they welcomed their first born, Anna Marie. They were faithful members of St. Francis Xavier Parish. The family then moved to Oklahoma City where their second child and only son, John Henry Jr., was born. Upon graduation, John went to work for Boeing in Wichita, KS where they welcomed their third and fourth children, Patricia Anne Jr. (Patsy) and Janet Louise. In Wichita, they were members of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Again, following John’s employment opportunities, the family moved to St. Anne’s Parish, Broken Arrow, OK, where Margaret Ellen was born. A short while later, the family moved to St. Pius X Parish in Tulsa, OK where their sixth and final child, Mary Jean, was born.

After several years in Tulsa, the family moved to Titusville, FL where they joined St. Teresa’s Parish. This was one of the most exciting times in their lives as John worked for the McDonnell Douglas Corporation under contract to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) during the Apollo missions. Patty would take the kids to community sites in Titusville to watch the 6 launches that occurred during their time there, Apollo’s 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. Living by the Atlantic Ocean, Patty, an excellent swimmer and certified Water Safety Instructor (WSI), enjoyed taking her children to the many beaches near their home and loved swimming in the ocean. On one trip, Patty put her swimming and rescue skills to the test when three of her children were caught in a rip tide. While a frightening experience for the family, all turned out well.

The family returned to Oklahoma City, eventually settling on NW 18th Street directly across from St. Francis of Assisi Church and Rosary Catholic School. Patty was very involved at St. Francis Parish, where she remained a parishioner even after moving to St. Ann’s Assisted Living Center. While a member at St. Francis, Patty founded Blood Pressure Sundays. Once a month, Patty read and tracked blood pressures free for any parishioner who sat down in her chair.

Moving her large family across the country several times planted a travel bug in Patty. She and John took their family on multiple cross-country summer vacations. They took road trips to Colorado, often with their Aunt Bernie and Uncle Hal. The family of eight went on longer trips, first in their station wagon, then in their camper van, and finally in their mini motor home, which John rigged up to accommodate all eight for sleeping. Throughout the years they traveled to Seattle, Niagara Falls, back to Florida, and to many other locales. Patty and John, (and after John’s death, Patty on her own) continued to make pilgrimages to Catholic Shrines around the world. Some of her most treasured trips included visiting Medjugorje (twice) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lourdes, Rome, Jerusalem, and a mission trip to Peru. When John had an opportunity to do some consulting after retirement, he and Patty traveled to Taiwan where they stayed for 6 months. They had an amazing time, making many friends through their Catholic Parish. Patty’s love of travel and cruising took her to many countries including the Bahamas, Egypt, the Caribbean, Alaska, the Panama Canal and to England with her oldest granddaughter, Sandy. Patty always had an independent spirit, and following the death of her husband, John Henry, she purchased a motor home and explored the country on RV trips, both solo and with the dear friends she invited to come along.

Thirteen years following the loss of John, Patty married George Couture. Tragically, George died eleven days after their wedding day. In 2010, Patty was fortunate to find a deep love again. She married longtime friend and fellow St. Francis’ parishioner, Alfred Konarik. Patty and Al remained married until his death in November 2025. Together, they enjoyed traveling, friends and family, Wednesday night dinners at the Belle Isle Brewery, and playing cards and other games. Patty and Al were fierce card players, always eager to teach family and friends one of their favorite rummy games. They were always happy when the card table was full of new and experienced players they could trounce. Most importantly, the shared love of their Catholic faith filled their days. Al regularly joined Patty for daily Mass at St. Ann’s. Each night, they religiously offered prayers together, praying for their deceased spouses, for their many family members, and for each other.

Patty became a resident at St. Ann’s Assisted Living in the Fall of 2022, where she never wanted to miss an activity. Always the social butterfly, she continued that into her last years even as her memory faded due to vascular dementia. She never wanted to miss daily Mass, the Daily Chronicle, or Bingo. Al did not join her in living at St. Ann’s, yet he was a daily visitor joining her for Mass, for meals, and for many of the activities. Al became a beloved presence at St. Ann’s, making many take notice of the loving way he doted on Patty.

Patty will long be remembered by her children, friends and family for her loving nature, full body hugs, and effusive positivity. She loved a good superlative to describe the sight of the moon or a magnificent sunset. Her beautiful handwriting and loving sentiments in the many letters and cards she sent to those she treasured were so special. Patty’s love of life and boisterous laughter were infectious. Memories of her joyful nature have set a foundation for those of us who knew her and serve as a guide for how to live a life well, long into the elder years.

Patty is preceded in death by her mother and father, husband John Henry, brother Frank, sister Kathleen, stepsisters Mary Jean and Jo Ann, and husband Al Konarik. Patty is survived by her son John (Annette), daughters Anna (Billy), Patsy (Carter), Janet (Lyndon), Margaret (Matt), and Mary Jean (David), grandchildren Joe, Sandy, Nate, Logan, Rachel, Cory, Keaton, Emmet, Connor, Molly, Zachary, John, Grace, Robert, Vivian, Tony, and Carly. Twenty great grandchildren also survive her. Patty is also survived by three of her beloved siblings: Richard "Dicky" Manley and his wife Dotty, Mary Ellen Scoles and her husband Jimmie, and Eloise Schafer.

Dearest Mom/Grandma/Gigi, We Love Your Guts!
