Paula Sue Fanson

Paula Sue (Sakach) Fanson (b. October 25, 1946) died peacefully in hospice care at Norman Regional Healthplex on Saturday evening, April 4th after living with dementia in the last years of her life.

Paula is survived by her older sister, Frances (Sakach) Day, 85, of Yankton, SD, and her children, Rose Marie (Fanson) Marinace, Heather (Fanson) Harrison, and Natasha Fanson; as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Paula was born in Decatur, Ill, and moved to Oklahoma City as a child, attending John Carroll Elementary and Bishop McGuinness HS (’64). She married Frederick Fanson (d.2017) in June of 1972. She will be laid to rest next to him in El Reno Cemetery in El Reno, OK.

Paula was an active member of the St. Eugene congregation, working in the parish office and a member of the Red Hats Club. Despite not having a green thumb she enjoyed gardens, cooking and the historic home tours around the City. She especially enjoyed entertaining her friends and providing a welcoming table for all who gathered to share a meal and laugh.

Services will be held on April 9th, 11:30 AM at St. Eugene Catholic Church where Paula was a member of the congregation for over 50 years.
