Rita Maxine Lipe

Rita Maxine Huff Lipe passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City after a successful and fulfilling life surrounded by her loving sons and treasured family. Born December 1, 1932, in Tipton, Oklahoma, Maxine was the first of four children of Frank and Beatrice Huff. Maxine married her loving husband, Richard Lee Lipe, Sr., on September 1, 1956, and they lived on Quapah Avenue in northwest Oklahoma City for 40+ years before moving to Vintage Gardens.

Maxine attended Lang School in Tipton, Oklahoma, and graduated in 1950 as the class Valedictorian. Maxine received an associate’s degree from Braun’s School of Business in Oklahoma City and began her 35-year career as an office manager in multiple branches across Oklahoma City for Metropolitan Life Insurance. Maxine was a dedicated member of the 10th & Francis Church of Christ which moved/renamed to Broadview Heights Church of Christ and is presently known as the Seminole Pointe Church of Christ.

Maxine was an avid sports fan and faithfully watched almost every OKC Thunder, Oklahoma University and Oklahoma State University televised game. She was also an avid and usually victorious card and domino player three days a week. She will always be infamous for creating the “Maxine’s BLT” that can be ordered at most north OKC metro Sonic Drive-ins.

Maxine is survived by three sons, Richard “Rick” Lee Lipe, Jr., Rodney Dale Lipe and his wife Kristin Ellis (both Oklahoma City), Randall “Randy” Byron Lipe and his wife Linda Marie and granddaughters Reilly Makena Lipe and Reese Camryn Lipe (Colleyville, TX), brother Kenneth Huff and wife Celia (Arlington, TX) and brother Ronnie Huff and wife Alice (San Antonio, TX) plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard and her younger sister Janice Bagwell Poole.

Maxine’s family was her world. The joy in her eyes when she spoke of her sons, granddaughters and daughters-in-law was simply contagious and admirable. But her love didn’t stop there. Her relatives, friends and even acquaintances were just as appreciated and respected. Maxine treated everyone with love, admiration and always had a kind thing to say. She was our treasured gift and her gift to us as mother, grandmother and friend will truly be missed.

A Funeral Service to celebrate her life is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 27th, 2026 at Seminole Pointe Church of Christ, 16300 N. May Ave. Edmond, OK.  Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
