Roy Gene Chappell

God blessed our family with the beautiful life and spirit of Roy Gene Chappell. Roy left this life, as the July buck moon rose in the eastern evening sky on July 27, 2026, into the arms of our heavenly father. Blake, Estalyne, Orin, Richard, and Clifford were waiting for him with open arms.

Roy was born in Sedalia, Missouri on January 10, 1945 to Orin Chappell (1912 – 1999) and Glenice Estalyne (Purchase) Chappell (1915 – 1999). As a child raised on a farm, his love for humanity started with the earth beneath his feet. From there, he learned to cultivate that love by raising livestock and absorbing the knowledge of a country life, like water being picked up by a sponge and sharing it with the world along the way, squeezing it out in sprinkles to those in need of it. One can only imagine the cute, red-haired country boy with a constant smile on his face. So many had the privilege of listening to Roy weave his childhood and adolescent stories like a tapestry and then hang it in front of them like they were part of the joy he experienced in the innocence of youth. He lived and embraced the mischievous gifts of his life. Simply put: Roy loved life. It was the playground for all his adventures, childhood pranks, and fun-loving antics, like putting peanut butter between the plates at his sister’s house. His most impressive prank was moving a team of horses and wagon into a hay loft, leaving the local constable trying to figure out how they got up there in the first place, and how to get them back down.

Roy started a family and was blessed with three sons and one daughter. He met Linda through other family members, and it only took a moment before they held hands, took off on an adventure, and didn’t look back. They traveled for business and pleasure throughout the world, making cherished lifelong friends. With open hearts they beautifully blended their children Chase, Blake, Cole, Alisha, Kristia, and Trisha, along with their extended families, creating a wonderful and loving home base for all of them. His final months were lovingly shared with the planting of a vegetable and flower garden, where he enthusiastically educated his two younger cousins, Mandi and Glenda, on how to cultivate; it was truly a treasure that was shared between all three of them. In addition, they all had important lessons in chasing armadillos away (Linda’s hero!).

In 1980, Roy founded Chappell Supply and began his philanthropy throughout his community and the world, which he operated as the CEO until 2026. In addition to his work, he was an active member of the Cleaning Equipment Trade Association (CETA), where he served on the board of directors for two terms: 1995-1999, and 2003-2011. He was elected as president in 2004 and 2011 and was on the board of trustees from 2013-2020. Roy was honored with CETA’s Lifetime Achievement award in 2013, and the Community Service Award in 2022. His philanthropic desire led him to partner with the Oklahoma City Police Department and Boys & Girls Club, where he donated over 200 bikes since 2018. Roy was a true leader. His love and generosity was visible at every turn. He left a legacy of love, giving, kindness, knowledge, joy, and gratitude to and for his family, friends, business acquaintances, and to all those who had the privilege of passing his way.

Roy was preceded in death by his son Blake Chappell, his parents Orin and Estalyne, and his brothers Richard and Clifford Chappell.

Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Linda (Linthicum) Chappell; son, Chase Chappell & wife Shyla, grandson Logan & wife Lydia and their daughter Marilyn, and granddaughter Kylee; son, Cole Chappell, granddaughters Talyn & Torrin Chappell and their mother DeAnne Chappell; daughter Alisha Robinson & Preston Mitchell, grandson Chance Robinson & wife Kirsten, grandson Braden Robinson & wife Jordyn & their children Callahan, Quinn, and Hank, grandson Tanner Robinson & wife Hannah and their son Elijah; daughter Kristia Prolluck & Vance Jones, grandson Kendall Fleshman & wife Amanda and their children Kensington and Channing, granddaughter Karrah Nordlund & husband Tobi and their children Arye & Shepherd; Kent & Rebecca Fleshman and their children Grayson and McKenna; daughter Trisha Standlee & granddaughter Chloe and grandson Luke; sister Janice Young & husband Steve, and many other beloved family members, co-workers, colleagues, and friends.
