Sam was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on Nov. 4, 1930. The family moved to Oklahoma City where he graduated from John Carroll High School. He attended Regis College and St. Thomas Seminary. Sam left the seminary and married his high school sweetheart, Pat Dierker. He served in the US Army in Stuttgart, Germany where their first child, Sam Jr., was born. Upon his return to OKC, he was employed by Kerr McGee Corporation. Pat and Sam then added four girls to their family.Sam was a true gentleman and the very best dad a child could ever have. His happiest times were those spent with his family, close friends, and making new memories. He loved spending time at Lake Tenkiller and traveling all over the world. He was always up for an adventure and was the perfect host.Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Pat; and their children, Sam Jr. and wife Gabriela, Kay Beauchamp and husband Kent, Louise Bass and husband Terry, Carol Heinen and husband Dan, and Christie Ardoin and husband Stan. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren who called him Poppa.May "Mr. Wonderful" now rest in peace. There will be a private burial and, in the near future, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Sam's life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parish Social Ministry at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help or to the Bishop John Carroll School.
