Scott Lee Wilson

Scott Lee Wilson, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in Edmond, Oklahoma, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Scott was born on March 10, 1955, in Salina, Kansas, to Darrell and Carol Wilson, and was raised there. As a young boy, he spent his summers working on his grandfather’s ranch in Colorado, where he learned the values of hard work—building fences, wrangling and branding cattle, and even a bit of underage driving. Those summers also brought plenty of “governor’s meetings” and a colorful education in ranch humor. He attended Salina Central High School, where he met the love of his life, Teresa Jane Stack. The high school sweethearts were married on July 27, 1974, shortly after Teresa’s graduation.

Scott began his career in finance with Household Finance Company in Salina, Kansas. His dedication and strong work ethic led him to various positions across the state before ultimately settling in Edmond, Oklahoma. He continued his career in banking, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike for his fairness and integrity. He retired in 2020 as Senior Credit Analyst for Landmark Bank.

Outside of work, Scott had a passion for life and many hobbies. He was best known as an avid fisherman, competing in tournaments across lakes throughout Oklahoma. He also enjoyed annual fishing trips to Canada with his father and friends, targeting pike and musky. His favorite spots, however, were Stockton Lake for crappie and Lake Texoma for striper. Scott took fishing seriously—evident in his extensive collection of rods and reels and his skill in crafting his own lures. Anyone who joined him on a fishing trip knew to be ready before sunrise—or risk being left behind.

Scott also loved cooking and experimenting with new recipes, often incorporating his favorite ingredient—Spam—into creative dishes. He delighted in sharing his humorous culinary adventures on social media. He was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oklahoma City Thunder. In recent years, he discovered a love for classic trucks and horsepower, frequently seen driving his custom-built 1987 C10, proudly bearing the personalized license plate “ScottMan.”

Above all, Scott was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He faced life’s challenges with remarkable strength, having previously battled Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, enduring chemotherapy, radiation, and a stem cell transplant in 2012. Through it all, his spirit never wavered. His later diagnosis of pancreatic cancer proved to be his greatest challenge, but he continued to fight with courage and determination. Scott will be remembered for his deep love of family, zest for life, quick wit, and unwavering integrity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Carol Wilson, and his grandson, Tristan Sawatski.

Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Teresa; his daughter Jessica and her husband Ryan Sawatski of Chandler, Oklahoma; his son Jarrett Wilson of Sherman, Texas; and his daughter Chelsey Wilson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Caleb Sawatski and Quinn Wilson; his brother Mark Wilson and wife Diana of Overland Park, Kansas; and their children Brent Higginbotham and husband Ryan White, Nick Pressler and wife Lindsey, and niece Danielle Jacobson, all of the Kansas City area, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Stephenson Cancer Center, Elara Home Health, Frontier Hospice, and the Integris Hospice House for their compassionate care.

A private burial will be held at Green Haven Cemetery.

A Celebration of Scott’s life will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home, 14624 North May Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend, with a link available on the Smith & Kernke website. In honor of Scott, guests are encouraged to dress as he would remember them—whether in Chiefs gear, fishing attire, or even something featuring Spam.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the OU Stephenson Cancer Center and/or The Ronald McDonald House of Oklahoma City.
