Sergeant Major Darrell David "Dave" Jones

Sergeant Major Darrell D. (Dave) Jones, Ret. passed away August 1, 2021, just weeks shy of his 73rd birthday. After a hard-fought four-year battle with cancer, Dave is now at rest with his Lord. He often elicited groans as well as laughs at family gatherings as he was our very own "pun-master". Dave liked being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, running, and swimming. He ran several marathons and even completed the Iron Man Triathlon. Dave also enjoyed reading, traveling, and classic movies. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed staying in touch with his Marine Corps buddies. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Michael M. Jones. He is survived by his beloved partner of 15 years, Janice Sherrod; sons, David Jones and wife Shannon, Greg Jones and wife Sarah, Matt Jones and wife Brandy; granddaughters, Payton and Parker; his siblings, Terence Jones, Veronica Morin, Allison Jones, Marian Jones, Cynthia Smith and brothers-in-law Cliff Morin and George Smith. Dave also leaves behind many friends including several with whom he shared a life-long bond. He will be missed mightily by all who knew him.
