Shirley Ann Thompson went to her heavenly home on Friday, April 28, 2023, after a short illness. She was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Carl and Florine Haddock, graduated from Bishop McGuiness High School and attended Oklahoma State University. In high school she met the love of her life, Larry Thompson. Shirley and Larry were married on August 29, 1953, and, after a brief military assignment in Germany, they returned to Oklahoma City where they made their home together for 61 years.Shirley helped Larry grow the family business, Capitol Stage Equipment Company, for over 50 years. She was very active in the activities of their children, including scouting, PTA and sports, along with being an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church, where she volunteered in many capacities.Shirley had special talents, including cooking, sewing, crocheting, gardening and entertaining. She hosted many family events at their home and loved everyone being together. She had a special relationship with her 4 grandchildren and was active in their lives.Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Myers (Dan) of Oklahoma City and Susan Rupe (Kevin) of Oklahoma City; granddaughters, Kerri Beasley (Justin), Amy Donnell (Derek), and Jennifer Schovanec (Kyle); and grandson, Chris Rupe; great grandchildren Ashlyn, Evalynne, Vivian, Sophia, Drew and Keighan, along with many nieces and nephews. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry B. Thompson, son Robert (Bob) Thompson; and brothers, Bill Haddock and Jerry Haddock.The family would like to thank her long-time physician, Dr. David Wilson, Dr. Cuff and Dr. Van Zandt from Mercy Hospital and St. Ann's Assisted Living for their special care of her.A Rosary Service will be held at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home (N. May) on Monday, May 1st at 5:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 2, at 12:00 noon and graveside services will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Integris Hospice House or any charity of your choice.
