Sidney Raymond Seitz

Sidney Raymond Seitz went to be with his savior on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. He was born October 15, 1942 at Omaha, Nebraska, and died at his home in Edmond, Oklahoma. Sid married Mary Kay Forney in 1964. Shortly after his marriage, Sid went into the military. He went through OCS, became a captain, a helicopter pilot, and he served in Vietnam. He came home from Vietnam, and went on to complete his degree at Saint Martin's college in Olympia, Washington where he and Mary Kay lived for 3 years with their young son, Tim. The family then moved to Kirkland, Washington, where they lived for 43 years and where their daughter, Tiffany, was born. He worked as a store manager in the tire and automotive industry for a number of years. Then, Sid and Reagan Dean opened their own shop in Issaquah, Washington. Following that, Sid was a service manager for an automotive dealership. He was a follower of Jesus, and attended Bellview Church of Christ for many years. After which, he and Mary Kay became founding members of a new congregation called Eastside Christian Fellowship, which they attended until they moved to Edmond in April of 2016. In Edmond, Sid and Mary Kay attended Frontline Church where they served as greeters and hosted a community group in their home for several years. Sid participated in many sports throughout his life, including basketball, baseball, football, snow skiing and golf, which was one of his favorite activities, both playing and watching. He loved to sing, and he was part of a quartet called The Blue Notes when he was in high school. He also sang with the praise and worship team at Eastside Christian Fellowship for many years. In 1976, Sid suffered injuries from a motorcycle accident that changed his life. He lost the use of his right hand, but it didn't slow him down, he just learned to use his left hand to continue living life to the fullest. Later in life, Sid developed COPD, which restricted his ability to sing and forced him to slow down a little bit. In 2012, Sid and Mary Kay suffered the tragic loss of their son, Tim. Though his wife, Wendy, continued to be a beloved member of their family, even caring for Mary Kay and Sid through recent hardships. Through the ups and downs of life, Sid never lost his sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Mae (Eddings) Seitz; his two brothers, Jim and Larry; and his son, Timothy Raymond Seitz. He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay; his daughter, Tiffany Lynn (Seitz) Hawkins and her husband Cary; and his grandchildren, Kaleigh, Jason, and Gabrielle Seitz, and Hadley and Holden Hawkins. Visitation will be held at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home at 14624 N May Ave., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021. A celebration of life will be held at the Eastside Christian Fellowship event center in Kirkland, Washington at a date to be determined.
