Sue Clifford

Elinor Sue (Russell) Clifford was born in Oklahoma City, OK on November 22, 1939 to David & Virginia Russell. After graduating from Bishop McGuiness High School, she received her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Central Oklahoma. She thoroughly enjoyed working in a variety of libraries, especially as the children’s librarian. On January 20, 1962, she married Bill Clifford, and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage and raising their four terrific and very individual children together. After her retirement, she devoted her time to volunteering, and delivered meals to individuals who were homebound. One of her greatest joys in life was being Grandma and Great-Grandma to her wonderful grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Bill Clifford; sister, Sandy Cory; and her parents. She is survived by her children David Joseph Clifford & wife Debra, Julia Ann Clifford, Mary Catherine Clifford, and Stephen James Clifford & wife Tami; grandchildren Joshua, Benjamin, Nathan, Autumn, Chase, Meredith, Halsey, & Tyson; great-grandchildren Benjamin & Henry; sisters Ruth Roland, and Alice Zieglar; and many other beloved extended family members and friends. Visitation will be 10am-7pm Friday, July 18 at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home – N. May, with family present 5-7pm. Mass will be 10am Saturday, July 19 at St. Joachim’s Chapel at St. Ann’s Retirement Center, with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
