Susan Elaine "Susie" Butcher

Susie Butcher, 63, passed away at her home in Edmond, Oklahoma on November 9, 2022 surrounded by family. She was born on November 23, 1958 to Al and Mary (Sumner) Morley having been raised in Dallas, TX with her three surviving brothers Tom, Ron and Dan Morley. She was married to Tom Butcher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Cathedral in Oklahoma City by cousins Frs. Paul and Bill Eichhoff on December 1, 1984. Together, they were blessed with twins Brooke and Brent Butcher born on October 4, 1986. Susie enjoyed both playing and coaching soccer, running marathons, playing the piano and Sudoku with her morning coffee. She was self-taught, receiving her Microsoft Office Certification and enjoyed many years teaching MS software programs to employees at Chesapeake Energy, Halliburton, OK County government officials and teaching at New Horizons Computer Learning Center, OCCC and the Mid-Del Technology Center. Susie was considered by many acquaintances to be a one-of-a-kind woman possessing beauty, brains and an engaging yet inquisitive personality. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Survivors include Tom Butcher, husband; daughter Brooke and her husband Mark Hudspeth (Dallas, TX) son Brent and his wife Kimberly Butcher (Weatherford, TX) and granddaughter Hayley Butcher, age 3. Other surviving family members include brothers Tom and JoAnn Morley (Dallas, TX), Ron and Patricia Morley (Mobile, AL), and Dan Morley (OKC); Aunt Sue Dilts & son Larry Dilts (Kansas City, MO); brother-in-law James Butcher; and sister-in-law Peggy Butcher; additional family members, including Leslie Butcher, Arah Edmond and son Kadyn DuBose all of Oklahoma City and Scott Butcher his wife Kerri with their sons Blake and Reid Butcher (Austin, TX); and many other beloved extended family members & friends. Special thanks to the Russell-Murray Hospice Team and the Integris SW Neuroscience Institute for their concerned and loving care. A special "Thank You" to both Cicley Booker for her compassionate nursing care along with Dan Morley (Brother) who loved and provided exceptional care of Susie. Many thanks to supporting family members and close friends that prayed, provided meals, sent flowers and read books to Susie during her final months. Memorial gifts may be made to the Live Like Lou (Gehrig) Foundation c/o Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, 2 South Campus, Oxford, OH 45056 (livelikelou.org). The previously administered Blessing of the Sick and Last Rights by Pastor Rex Arnold and Fr. K (Kalivela) was also quite a comfort to Susie. Visitation with family and friends will be held Sunday, November 13th from 2-4 PM at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home located at 14624 N. May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 14th at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8005 Dorset Dr., Nichols Hills, OK 73120 with a private final committal at Resurrection Cemetery in Oklahoma City to follow.
