Susan Elizabeth Mitchell

Susan Elizabeth Sloan Mitchell passed away peacefully in her home on November 16, 2023.

Susan was born to Ellis Boyd and Mary Elizabeth Sullivan Sloan in Coral Gables, Florida on July 5, 1945. She attended the University of Miami and after receiving a bachelor’s degree in nursing, Susan served her country in the United States Army Nurse Corp. She went on to obtain a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Oklahoma and enjoyed a long career as a dedicated diabetes educator with the EDIBA Diabetes Center of Excellence and was a valued mentor to her patients and students. Susan was an avid reader who loved to travel and was very active in her church and many other organizations.

She is survived by her husband Edward Mitchell, Jr., sister-in-law Ena Porch and family, stepdaughters Julianne and Monica, Monica’s husband Joe, stepson Edward, Edward’s wife Christy, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many loving friends.
