Theodore C. “Ted” Reisig was born on November 5, 1942, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Leo and Lillian Reisig.
Ted grew up in western Oklahoma, where, as a young boy he found joy in playing with his brother and cousins, helping his father on the farm, and collecting pennies, nickels, and dimes while searching for rare dates, flaws, or misprints. Even at a young age, he had an eye for what was valuable.
He graduated from Shattuck High School in 1960 and went on to attend Oklahoma State University, where he earned a degree in geology. Shortly after graduating, Ted began a career that took him across the globe. His work led him to Bahrain, Egypt, Malta, and Thailand before eventually returning to the United States.
Ted carried a lifetime of stories from his travels, sharing details about the people he met, the food he enjoyed, and even the shoes he picked up along the way. Of all the places he visited, Egypt held a special place in his heart, especially the Valley of the Kings. The history, culture, and experiences there were among his most treasured memories.
Ted was known for his wit, his stubborn nature, and his independent spirit. He lived life on his own terms, often guided by his signature phrase, “Why not?”. He enjoyed his solitude, collecting unique and rare items from around the world, and he never passed up sweets, whether it was candy, cake, or an ice cream sundae.
In his final days, Ted was surrounded by the people who mattered most to him, his family, whom he came to cherish deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Lillian Reisig, and his brother, Jon Lee Reisig.
Ted passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in Edmond, Oklahoma, on May 2, 2026.
He is survived by his nephew, Kyle Reisig and his wife Andrea of Edmond, along with their children, Riggs, Sadie, and Miller; his niece, Misty Reisig Willett and her husband Justin of Edmond, along with their children, Jett, Ryker, Gattlin, and Everett; his sister-in-law, Karen Reisig Myers; as well as numerous cousins and loved ones.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Tarek, Sarah, and Suncrest Hospice for their compassionate care.
A graveside service will be held at Shattuck Memorial Cemetery at 2pm Friday, May 8, 2026.
