Thomas (Tom) Roy Cook, 74, died peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2023. He was born in San Diego, California on November 22, 1948 to William F Cook and Evelyn Cook.Tom was a proud Navy "brat" who spent his childhood years in Hawaii. As an adult, he settled in Oklahoma where he lived in Oklahoma City and Edmond. He attended US Grant High School where he was a champion member of the wrestling team. Tom received a scholarship to wrestle at Kansas State Teachers College. He was not one to let anyone forget his glory days on the wrestling mat. After graduating from Central State College in Edmond, Tom went on to law school at Oklahoma City University. He built a successful law career and was a fierce and fair defender who held a firm belief in legal principles. Tom retired from law in 2015.Tom pursued many interests and activities during his life. He loved the ocean and his boat, the Sea Gal, which he kept in San Diego. He was an accomplished scuba diver who enjoyed wonderful diving trips. He was also very proud of his prized, distinctive Corvette, complete with flames and a scorpion hood. No one dared tell him he was a terrible driver! The true joy of Tom's life were his children. He was fiercely supportive of them, and he instilled in them his strong belief that education would lead to a better life and could never be taken away. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers William Cook Jr. MD, Jerry Cook, and his nephew David Cook. He is survived by his children, Randy Cook and Kate Cook, grandson Boston, and brother Mike Cook. A Memorial service for Tom will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home located at 14624 North May Avenue in Oklahoma City.
