Tomilou "Tomi" Gentry Liddell passed away November 20th, 2023. Tomi was born December 30, 1952, in El Paso, Texas and graduated from Coronado High School in 1970. She attended the University of Oklahoma in 1971, where she received her degree in Journalism/Professional Writing in 1974. She attained a Doctorate of Law degree from Oklahoma City University Law School and joined the Oklahoma Bar Association in 1981.
Tomi served as an Assistant Attorney General through the administrations of Attorneys General Cartwright, Turpen, and Henry. She then served as a judicial assistant at the Oklahoma Court of Appeals under the auspices of the Oklahoma Supreme Court from 1987-1995. Tomi was an active member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and was licensed to practice law before the United States District Court, Western District, as well as the United States Supreme Court.
Tomi had twin children, daughter Luci Faith Liddell and son Jesse Duncan Thomas Liddell in 1983. She owned and operated Material Possessions, a local upscale French antique and accessory store from 1995-1999. Tomi cherished her travels and adventures with her dear friends. Always a devoted rock and roll fan, she and her comrades traveled throughout the country and abroad to many wonderful and memorable concerts.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Thomas Patrick Gentry and Fern Simpson Gentry, as well as uncles and aunt Jack Gentry, Helen Gentry Morrison and Bill Gentry. She is survived by her daughter Luci Faith Liddell and grandchildren, Finley Grace Smith, Carter Mark Smith and Riley Hope Smith; as well as her son, Jesse Duncan Thomas Liddell, daughter-in-law Erin Laverty Liddell and granddaughter Lyla Jean Liddell. She is also survived by her cherished family, aunt Jean Gentry and her dearly loved cousins, Rita Gentry, Lee Gentry, Susan Gentry Shiras, Mark Gentry, all from California; Dee Morrison Turner and Betty Farnham of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Tom Morrison of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Richard Hughes of El Paso, Texas and all of their wonderful families.
Tomi was a spunky, adventurous individual who loved to laugh. A memorial service to celebrate her fun-loving spirit will be at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church Sunday November 26th, 2023, at 6 pm. She requests that any memorial donations be made to Free to Live, a local animal rescue organization or the ASPCA.
