Vanda Virginia Halford died at the age of 82 on October 23rd 2009, at Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City. Vanda was born in Topeka KS, June 19th 1927. She was the youngest of four children born to Frank VanValkenburg and Mary Francis Fox. Vanda was predeceased by her sister Marjorie (VanValkenburg) Woolley, brothers Frank VanValkenburg II and William Dudley VanValkenburg. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, William Halford of Oklahoma City, son Frank Digilio of Florida, daughters Kathie Digilio of Texas, and Dianne (Digilio) and husband Britton Boyd along with their two children Nathan and Sarah Boyd of Norman Oklahoma. She is also survived by four nephews, Patrick Woolley, Michael Woolley, Frank VanValkenburg III, and Billy VanValkenburg. Her two nieces Marilynn (Woolley) Hollis, and Pamela (VanValkenburg) Love preceded her in death. Vanda's great grandfather was Joseph Roubidoux, founder of a small trading post later known as 8t Joseph MO. She was a member of the Iowa Indian Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska. Vanda loved playing in professional competitive bridge tournaments throughout her adult life and achieved the title "Life Master" and Director. She prayed often each day, and enjoyed shopping and cooking, dancing, modeling, and she was known as the "Candy Lady" by most merchants, for wherever she went, she always had candy to pass out. Four words sums up Vanda's life: "Wonderful, Loving, Faithful, and Generous," as a wife, mother, sister, aunt grandmother, and friend."
