Walter Louis Phillips (Dr. Lou) was born on December 15, 1946, in Tulsa, OK to Walter Lee and Edith Ellen (Swinford) Phillips the youngest of their children. Lou died on February 22, 2023 at his home in Oklahoma City with his wife and daughter at his side. Lou graduated from McClain High School in Tulsa class of 1965. Shortly after graduating he joined the U.S. Army and married his first wife and mother of his daughter Monica Lynn. Lou's enlistment consisted of 1 year in Massachusetts, two years in Germany then back to the states to California for 1 year. After his discharge from the army Lou and his family returned to Tulsa shortly before moving to Oklahoma City in 1971. Lou worked for American Supply in sales and later worked for Carson Industrial as a buyer. In 1972 the family moved to Dibble, Ok. Lou married his second wife in 1982 and they operated a Floral and Nutrition Shop on Meridian Ave. His second wife Carla Jo Phillips passed away in 2003 and Lou continued with the Nutrition Shop. Lou married Dorothy McCaffrey in October 2021 and they made their home in Oklahoma City. He enjoyed traveling, camping, RVing, and photography but most of all he loved being able to take care of his customers/friends when they had health problems. Lou was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife Carla Jo; his brothers Charles Phillips and wife Dona of Gruver, TX, Bill Phillips of Bartlesville, and his sister Shirley Neeley of Tulsa. He is survived by his wife Dorothy McCaffrey of the home, daughter Monica Lynn and husband C. Travis Ward of Greenfield, IN, granddaughters Megan Leigh Ann Barber and her husband Jonathan of Indianapolis, IN, Lilly Rose Taber and her husband Thomas of Noblesville, IN, Holly Danielle Ward of Greenfield, IN; and his first great grandson Javonni James Taber; sister-in-law Joan Phillips of Bartlesville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services celebrating Dr. Lou will be 11:00 AM Saturday June 24, 2023 at Smith & Kernke N. May Ave. Chapel.
