Wanda Loraine Baily

WANDA LORAINE PATRICK BAILY passed away Monday, January 18, 2010, at her home. She was born on April 16, 1917, a beautiful, spirited Irish daughter of Otis Lamar Patrick and Lillian Beulah Cole Patrick. Loraine's childhood was full of fun, mischief, and a loving family of pioneer stock. She was a talented dancer, swimmer and gymnast. Her beauty and sweetness won the heart of Louis E. Baily, her husband of 64 years. They were such graceful ballroom dancers that often other dancers would move to the edge of the dance floor and simply enjoy their lovely, perfectly coordinated dancing. They moved from Oklahoma City to Sarasota, Florida, and enjoyed forty years of golf, dancing, sun, surf, bridge and world travel. Loraine, known by her family and friends as Pat, nursed her husband through seven years of Alzheimers' disease without complaint. After his death in 1999, she began a new chapter in her life by moving back to Oklahoma City to be near her only child, Patricia, and husband Jim Dennis. Known by them as Wanda, her generous loving heart made her a beloved member of their extended family for the next ten busy, fun-filled years. They dined out often, attended theater, concerts, museums, musical theater presentations and had numerous family gatherings. Her sweet spirit and upbeat personality made her company much sought after. Her lovely smile lit up any room. She fought bravely and without complaint against cancer, but Heaven has a new angel now, full of Irish spirit and love. Wanda will be sorely missed by her daughter Patricia, son-in-law Jim Dennis; her grandsons David Dunlap and wife Catherine, Michael Dunlap and wife Tess and children John and Sheila Gatchalian, Tod Dennis and wife Julie, Kim McClendon and sons Mark and Michael, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
