It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of a truly loyal and loving man. Willard Eugene “Gene” Furnish, 75, went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 17th, 2025, surrounded by those who cherished and loved him the most.
Born in Thomas, OK, Gene devoted his life to loving his family, helping others, and living by the simple belief that kindness matters. He grew up on his family’s farm between Putnam and Thomas, OK. He attended Putnam Schools for most of his education before transferring to Thomas High School for his junior and senior years. After high school, he graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a double major in accounting and mathematics. Following graduation, he worked for Thomas and Company and Goldman Enterprises both in Oklahoma City. He then worked 32 years for Inovest Companies in Oklahoma City before retiring. Once retired, Gene devoted his time to his family, traveling, and his love for hunting and fishing. His happiest moments were spent at his most favorite place- their family lake house at Grand Lake in Oklahoma.
Gene lived a life defined by unwavering loyalty, quiet strength, and boundless love. To his family, he was their rock — steady, dependable, and always present. He was a man of his word, someone who showed up without hesitation and never asked for anything in return. He was their foundation — loving, supportive, and endlessly patient.
He gave generously of his time and heart, never seeking recognition, always finding joy in the happiness of others. Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply being there when it mattered most, Gene left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 56 years Sarah, his older son Justin and his wife Bridget, and his younger son Ryan and his wife Laura. He also leaves behind the greatest joys of his life- his four grandchildren Logan, Londyn, Camden, and Cal, who will carry forward his legacy of integrity, love, and quiet strength.
He is preceded in death by Willard “Wid” and Ruby Furnish, a half-brother, Henry Lee Mosberg, and a grandson, Conner Furnish.
Though he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched. We are grateful for the time we had, and we take comfort in knowing his love will remain with us always.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, September 25th, 2025, at 2:00pm in the Chapel at Crossings Community Church. 14600 N. Portland Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73134. All who knew and loved him are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
