William (Bill) George Reeves, DDS, passed away March 31, 2026, surrounded by and prayed over by his loving family. Bill was born in Oklahoma City to George Asa Reeves and Dorothy Kirchner Reeves on January 26, 1947. He grew up in Oklahoma City along with his brother, John Reeves, and sister, Nancy Reeves Williams.
Bill was a gifted student and talented athlete. He loved baseball, water skiing (even learning to barefoot ski), snow skiing, tennis, and running. He also became an Eagle Scout following in his father’s footsteps. He graduated with honors from Classen High School in 1965.
Bill attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. On a blind date, Bill met Mary Frances Hart who didn’t ask him if there were still cowboys and Indians in Oklahoma. They married on December 20, 1969. This past December was their 56th wedding anniversary.
After three years at Washington University, he entered the University of Missouri School of Dentistry (UMKC) earning his DDS in general dentistry in 1972. After graduating, Bill entered the US Navy fulfilling a long-time dream. He was stationed at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, California where he finished an internship. While there, he and Mary had their first child, a daughter, Kerri Elizabeth Reeves. He then served as a dentist aboard the USS Enterprise. After transferring to the USS Ogden, he was deployed for 10 months overseas where he received the rank of Lieutenant Commander and retired from service.
Upon completing his military service Bill and Mary returned to Kansas City where Bill again went to UMKC to pursue his specialty training in periodontics. Just before finishing his residency, he and Mary had their second child, a son, William Christopher Hart Reeves. Oklahoma City became the destination they chose to set up Bill’s practice and raise their family. He also taught at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. He always loved teaching those who wanted to learn!
For the next 48 years Bill faithfully served his patients and employees, living out his love for dentistry with kindness, compassion and integrity. Along the way he received many awards and honors, including serving as President of both the Oklahoma Society of Periodontists and the Southwest Society of Periodontists, serving as trustee on the board of the American Academy of Periodontology, and becoming a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology.
Bill was a devoted and faithful husband and a loving and proud father. He loved being involved with Kerri’s and Chris’s activities when they were children. From enjoying Indian Princess time to cheer time with Kerri and Eagle Scout activities or football with Chris, he was always ready. He taught them to swim, water ski, snow ski, any sport they might try. He loved to fly fish with Chris. Lake time was always special. And he loved his grandkids who called him Pop and was so very proud of them. They didn’t get the benefit of his boundless energy, but he loved each one of them deeply.
Above all Bill loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a long-time member of Bible Study Fellowship and served as a group leader. His favorite hymn was ‘It is Well With My Soul’, and he wanted it sung at his funeral. So it shall be sung. He lived his life knowing that Romans 8:28 was true: “We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.”
Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Kerri; his grandson, and Kerri’s son, Brenden; and his father and mother, George and Dorothy.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary; his grandchildren (and Kerri’s children) Laynie, Aeden, and Collin; his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Melanie; his grandchildren (and Chris and Melanie’s) children, Meacham and Margo; and his brother, John; and his sister, Nancy.
