Yale B. Scurlock

Yale passed away peacefully on June 28, 2021 in Oklahoma City. Yale was the younger of two sons born on May 3, 1926 to Voyle and Stella Scurlock in Hobart, Oklahoma. He attended Classen High School in Oklahoma City. Following two years in the U.S. Navy he attended Oklahoma City University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree on January 15th, 1951. While at OCU, Yale met and married his lifelong love Mary V. Wolaver, who died February 21st, 1999. Yale was employed in the financial industry and retired as a senior vice-president from Union Bank on December 31st, 1993. Yale loved and delighted in his family and his friends at Mayflower Congregational Church, where he was a member since 1988. Yale was preceded in death by his brother Voyle C., Jr. He is survived by his children: Susan Douglas & husband Philip, Nancy Owens & husband Dennis, Andy Scurlock and his wife Kathy, and Jennifer Payne & husband Brent; grandchildren: Charlie Douglas, Laura Swigart (Paul), Will Owens and Duncan, Emily and Amanda Payne; and greatgrandchildren Teddy, Max and Jackie Swigart and Ava, Eli and Aspen Payne. Yale was a kind, gentle and generous man who was much loved and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at Mayflower Congregational Church on Saturday, July 3rd at 2pm.
